Travel video about destination Pisa in Italy. A visit to Italy’s city of Pisa taking in its most notable historic sights.Starting at the Piazza Di Miracoli, the square in which the Leaning Tower is located, the architectural splendour of the Cathedral and the Baptiserium are in fascinating contrast with the Camposanto Cemetery, classic art, frescos and sculpture living alongside the engaging simplicity and reverent calm of a graveyard. But although the decorative splendour, symmetry and generous dimensions of the Palazzo De Cavalieri are a feast to the eye, it is the startling and precarious imperfection of the Leaning Tower that dominates the interest of this Renaissance city.

The lost city of the Incas, also known as the Old Mountain (Machu Pikchu), is a 15th-century Inca site located 2,430 meters above sea level. Visiting Machu Picchu again for a second time was a reconfirmation of its ability to impress all over again. We toured the site, this time around with a guide, on the first day with rainy conditions in the morning and overcast by the afternoon. On the second day, it was just gorgeous and sunny outside from the moment we arrived. My biggest tip for anyone visiting Machu Picchu is to budget several days to visit the site because of its sheer size and how unpredictable the weather c...

https://www.expedia.com/Warsaw.d178317.Destination-Travel-Guides For centuries Warsaw has been a center of refinement and knowledge. Its strategic position has also made it one of the most invaded countries in Europe. Shaped by history’s defining events, World War Two, and the closing of the Iron Curtain, Warsaw is a survivor, and has risen from the ashes of war and the shackles of Communism. Its true heart is its Old Town, the site of the Warsaw Uprising, one of the most heroic resistance actions ever seen against the nazis. After the war much of it, such as the opulent Royal Castle, was painstakingly rebuilt. One of the few statues not destroyed by the German army, is the mermaid Syrena, the symbol and protector of Warsaw. Visit St Johns Cathedral and St Anne’s Church, whose interior miraculously survived the war. The Warsaw Museum, is the keeping place of the city’s dramatic stories. Warsaw University served as military barracks while education was mostly outlawed, but an underground “secret university” of more than 3000 students emerged. The POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews was once the infamous Warsaw ghetto, where over 400,000 were incarcerated in just less than one and a half square miles. Nearby, the Warsaw Uprising Monument and the Warsaw Rising Museum pay tribute to one of the bravest chapters of the city’s history. Visit the Palace of Culture and Science, a gift to the Polish people from Stalin. Stroll along the Royal Route, a path once used by Polish Kings, today a popular tourist walk, studded with historical sites. Along Nowy Swiat Street, pass the monument to Polish astronomer, Nicolaus Copernicus. Closer to the river is the Copernicus Science Centre. See the heart of another of Warsaw’s famous sons, Fryderyk Chopin in the Holy Cross Church. His music floats through Lazienki Park, home to Lazienki Palace. The last stop on the Royal Route is Wilanow Palace, with luxurious artworks and formal gardens. Since the fall of the Iron Curtain, Poland’s economy has boomed, reflected in the luxury malls, such as Zlote Tarasy and the VITKAC Department store. Visit Praga to discover venues like the Soho Factory. An ammunition factory now home to a range of stylish shops and the Neon Museum. These reclaimed urban areas are perhaps the perfect reflection of Warsaw today.

As the sun gets low, join locals in a fado bar to hear heartrending songs of the working class.   20 miles west of the city is Cascais, a sleepy fishing village until Lisbon’s nobility discovered its golden bays in the late 1800s.  Another playground for Portugal’s Monarchs was Sintra, which Hans Christian Andersen called the most beautiful place in Portugal.   After Sintra, spend a few days exploring some of Europe’s most beautiful beaches, such as Praia das Maçãs, Adraga and Ursa. At Cape Roca, stand upon the clifftop, which until the 14th century was considered the end of the world.

https://www.expedia.com/Frankfurt.d179894.Destination-Travel-Guides For centuries, Frankfurt has been one of Europe’s most important trading capitals. Today, Frankfurt is home to the European Central Bank, the German Stock Exchange and an airport, which handles almost 60 million travelers a year.   Despite its stature as a financial giant, Frankfurt remains surprisingly compact. Most of its attractions are clustered close to the city centre, making the city perfect for exploring on foot or by bicycle.   Cross the Eiserner Steg into Frankfurt’s ancient heart, the Römerberg. After being devastated by allied bombs in World War Two, many of the square’s most important buildings have been lovingly restored. From the Römerplatz, head deeper into the old city to discover important buildings such as Paulskirche and Goethe-Haus.   In the eighteenth century the city’s elite built villas across the river from the old town. Today, many of these villas house specialist museums, such as the German Film Museum, the German Architecture Museum and the Stadel Museum.   Just behind the museum embankment, lose yourself in Old Sachsenhausen, where you’ll find narrow lanes lined with traditional houses and some of the city’s best ebbelwei pubs.   Once you’ve replenished your energy, hop on a tram to the city’s northwest and spend a few hours at the Frankfurt Botanical Gardens and Palmengarten. 70 years ago, as the city smoldered from war, few could have imagined that these greenhouses would ever again see such beauty, that this city would ever again experience such peace and prosperity.

With a population of only 300,000, Iceland can feel like the most isolated place on earth, yet its capital Reykjavik, is only a three-hour flight from London and just under six from New York. Reykjavik is relaxed and welcoming, yet possesses a cultural life that holds its own against other European capitals. Most buildings are built simple and low to beat the North Atlantic winds. However, the city is also graced with grand civic architecture inspired by Iceland’s natural beauty, such as the soaring central tower of Hallgrímskirkja. Many of the country’s most popular sights are within easy reach of Reykjavík. Immerse yourself in the spirit of Iceland, at the Blue Lagoon. Then spend a day or two in The Golden Circle, an area which encompasses three of Iceland’s greatest natural wonders; Thingvellir National Park, the Geysir Geothermal Field, and Gullfoss. Iceland’s main ring road strings together an endless series of epic landscapes. Less than two hours drive east of Reykjavik are two of the world’s most beautiful waterfalls, Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss. Continue eastward towards Vík, Iceland’s southern-most village, where you’ll find the dramatic landscapes of Black Beach, Reynisdrangar, and Dyrholaey. Follow the ring road for another two hours into the ethereal light of Jökulsárlón Lake, where icebergs break away from Europe’s largest glacier and float for years before tumbling out to sea. Head north and feel the earth rumble at Europe’s mightiest waterfall, Dettifoss. Then explore the Myvatn region, a tranquil lake surrounded by nature in all its violent beauty. Take a careful walk through the boiling landscape of Namafjall, lose yourself amid the lava pillars of Dimmuborgir, and peer into the caldera of Krafla Volcano. Known as the Capital of the North, Akureyri is the perfect place to warm up and enjoy some creature comforts, before heading off into the wilds again. In Iceland, every side road is a story waiting to unfold. So come, and live your own Icelandic story, it’s one you’ll keep telling for the rest of your days. https://www.expedia.com/Iceland.d79.Destination-Travel-Guides -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow us on social media: Twitter: https://twitter.com/Expedia Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/expedia Instagram: http://instagram.com/expedia Pinterest: http://www.pinterest.com/Expedia/ Google+: https://plus.google.com/+Expedia -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow us on our travel blog, Viewfinder: http://viewfinder.expedia.com/

Travel by cruise ship to Panama Canal , Visit Panama Canal, Panama Canal Tours, Panama Canal Vacation Travel Videos HD, World Travel Guide http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=World1Tube The Panama Canal is a 77.1-kilometre (48 mi) ship canal in Panama that connects the Atlantic Ocean (via the Caribbean Sea) to the Pacific Ocean. The canal cuts across the Isthmus of Panama and is a key conduit for international maritime trade. There are locks at each end to lift ships up to Gatun Lake, an artificial lake created to reduce the amount of excavation work required for the canal, 26 metres (85 ft) above sea level. The current locks are 33.5 metres (110 ft) wide. A third, wider lane of locks is currently under construction and is due to open in 2016. France began work on the canal in 1881, but had to stop because of engineering problems and high mortality due to disease. The United States took over the project in 1904, and took a decade to complete the canal, which was officially opened on August 15, 1914. One of the largest and most difficult engineering projects ever undertaken, the Panama Canal shortcut greatly reduced the time for ships to travel between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, enabling them to avoid the lengthy, hazardous Cape Horn route around the southernmost tip of South America via the Drake Passage or Strait of Magellan. The shorter, faster, and safer route to the U.S. West Coast and to nations in and around the Pacific Ocean allowed those places to become more integrated with the world economy. It takes between 20 and 30 hours to traverse the canal. During construction, ownership of the territory that is now the Panama Canal was first Colombian, then French, and then American. The US continued to control the canal and surrounding Panama Canal Zone until the 1977 Torrijos–Carter Treaties provided for handover to Panama. After a period of joint American–Panamanian control, the canal was taken over by the Panamanian government in 1999, and is now managed and operated by the Panama Canal Authority, a Panamanian government agency. Annual traffic has risen from about 1,000 ships in 1914, when the canal opened, to 14,702 vessels in 2008, the latter measuring a total of 309.6 million Panama Canal/Universal Measurement System (PC/UMS) tons. By 2008, more than 815,000 vessels had passed through the canal; the largest ships that can transit the canal today are called Panamax. The American Society of Civil Engineers has named the Panama Canal one of the seven wonders of the modern world.

There are wonders of the world and then there are places on planet earth that seem like they deserve an upper echelon category. Machu Picchu is certainly one of those places. My biggest tip for anyone visiting Machu Picchu is to budget several days to visit the site because of its sheer size and how unpredictable the weather can be. I'm not too sure. It's quite foggy right now. Where could we be? What could be off in the distance? Good question. Should we tell? Yes. It is Machu Picchu. Machu Picchu. That is Machu Picchu guys. Breathtaking is it not? This is a baby llama having breakfast. Breakfast time. Can you give us an update on the current situation? So the current situation is that it has stopped raining. Yes. And it is starting to clear a bit. We're hopeful. Right now it is eight thirty six, and we're hopeful that maybe around ten or eleven, if it doesn't rain again, that we'll have some sunshine. Clear visibility of Machu Picchu. Get those iconic views. Yeah. We know that the Quechua people were able to mummify people. But they used to mummify some important people from their culture. So they used to mummify to the royal family, they used to mummify to some people who were part of the high class people. So then they'd take the bodies. The mummies into the cave and they'd put them you know in the fetal position because they used to believe that they could enter into a different life after this life. Rocking the new hats. The chuyos. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So the soldiers possibly used this to place the torch. The fire. Okay. But also they could maybe place here a pet which was maybe a llama or this was maybe an alpaca that they would use to sacrifice in one of the temples. So here we're checking out an Inca toilet. Is it an en-suite? I'd say so. What are we doing Audrey? Getting our Machu Picchu stamp. So this one is yours. Ready. Ta da. Welcome to my home. This is the living area. It still needs to be furnished. And this over here is going to be a little reading nook and I'm put my books there, there and there. Alright, so we found a nice quiet spot here and I want to know your impressions of coming back to Machu Picchu for a second time? Okay, so Sam, you visited Machu Picchu about six years ago, how has does this trip compare to that one? This is like night and day. Six years ago I was the ultimate cheapskate backpacker. I came to Machu Picchu using the cheapest transportation route possible. Basically I took this van on this really twisty serpentine off-road area and then I went across on this cable car using this wooden trolley. It was really dangerous. Okay, so now next question. I know people always see Machu Picchu in documentaries, postcards, magazines. Do you think it is important for people to see it in person? Yeah, absolutely. It's actually one of these wonders of the world that actually lives up to its reputation. And what I really think, what I really get out of coming to Machu Picchu is just a sense of the sheer scale of the place. Like it is massive. When you come here and walk around you get a really good sense of just how big this lost city of the Inca's is. Woo hoo! Go Machu Picchu! This is part of our Travel in Peru series. We're making a series of videos showcasing Peruvian culture, Peruvian arts, Peruvian foods, Peruvian religion, Peruvian cuisine and Peruvian people. All things Peruano. The best of Comida Peruana and Cocina Peruana. Music in this video courtesy of Audio Network

I apologize for the shaky footage. The film chronologically progresses from morning to night, showing daily life around Athens and Piraeus. For those planning on visiting, those who’d like to visit but cannot or those who might be nostalgic and want to re-live their past visits / life there, hopefully this film shall satisfy, time and time again. Filmed in December 2010.
